Descripción
Just northeast of Skamnioudi, a fairly large wetland area is located adjacent to the Gulf of Kalloni. Throughout most of Spring and early Summer, this wetland holds water, and can be a good spot for many migrating herons, egrets, storks and waterfowl, like Tarro Canelo. Large numbers of waders tend to continue their foraging activities elsewhere, like the Polichnitos or Kalloni saltpans, but you can find them here too.
The surrounding fields a good for flocks of pipits, wagtails and larks, like Terrera Común and Bisbita Campestre. The trees adjacent to the sea are good for migrants, like flycatchers and warblers.
You have a good view over the Gulf of Kalloni, and species like gulls, terns, cormorants and grebes can be seen here. Especially during winter, Gaviota sombría and Zampullín Cuellinegro can be seen here.
