Descripción
Vorsperre Twistetalsperre is a protected nature reserve that serves as a sediment trap for the neighboring main dam. Characteristic bird species of the area are Cerceta Común, Cuchara Común, Porrón Moñudo and Focha Común. Chorlitejo Chico, Garceta Grande and Garza Real, as well as Cigüeña Negra, are also regularly encountered. During migration, many species of waders also rest in the area. The waders benefit from the weir at the main dam, as this enables the water level to be regulated (resting opportunities by drying out the bank areas). In the reedbeds you can find birds like Rascón Europeo and Carricero Común.

Accesso
A parking lot is located below the Vorsperre at the main dam directly on the main road towards Landau. From there, through the underpass of the main road, you get to an observation hide, from which you can see the area well. A hiking trail leads along the north-west bank, but does not offer a good insight into the nature reserve.
