The Tevenerheide is a nice walking and birding area, located next to Nato airport Geilenkirchen. The Tevenerheide is characterized by alternation between vegetation and landscapes: moist or dry, dense forest or open field. Very good place to view the Alondra Totovía quite close. Other birds in the area include Tarabilla común, Cárabo Común, Colirrojo Real, Picamaderos Negro, Zarcero Icterino, Alcaudón Dorsirrojo, Alondra Común and Escribano Cerillo.

Parking is available at several points. Click on a P in the map to get directions to that point. There are 4 marked walking trails. "Moor route" (black) - 5,8 km, start: car park Grotenrath. "Heathland route" (purple) - 6 km, start: car park Scherpenseel. "Lakes route" (blue) - 7,1, km, start: car park Hohenbusch. "Big nature trail" (yellow) - 9,4 km, start: car parks Hohenbusch/Grotenrath/Scherpenseel. On the map below you see a 10 km circular walking trail.
