Stausee Hengsen is a reservoir north of the course of the river Ruhr and south of Holzwickede. In the middle of the lake is a small island with a breeding colony of Cormorán Grande, whose concentrated excrement has largely destroyed the island's vegetation over the course of the years. Other birds you can encounter in the area are Ánsar común, Barnacla canadiense grande, Cisne Vulgar, Ganso del Nilo, Ánade azulón, Zampullín Común, Somormujo Lavanco and Porrón Moñudo.
