In Schellbruch reserve close to the city of Lübeck you find different types of habitats with a great variety of birds in a rather small area (although the complete reserve is not small at all. The reserve is managed by the NABU (German organisation for protecting nature) and a local organic farmer.
Good all year through but best in late spring. Fantastic place for Ruiseñor Pechiazul, Buscarla Unicolor, Bigotudo, Pigargo Europeo and Woodpeckers. In autumn also great flocks of geese in some years. Chorlitejo Chico and Avefría Europea occur as well as Martín Pescador Común. Winter is good for Alcaudón Norteño, Serreta Chica, Serreta Grande and sometimes Avetoro Común.
