The Oranienbaumer Heide nature reserve is one of the most species-rich areas in Saxony-Anhalt. Around 478 hectares of the nature reserve are reserved for undisturbed natural development. Large areas are taken up by semi-natural mixed deciduous forests, The central area of the nature reserve is characterized by open and semi-open areas with dry and poor grassland, heaths, dunes with open grass areas and silver grass meadows. The nature reserve offers a range of habitats for numerous birds. Among the birds that can be seen in the area are Grulla Común, Milano Real, Abejero Europeo, Alcotán Europeo, Abubilla común, Picamaderos Negro, Pico Mediano, Chotacabras Europeo, Chocha Perdiz, Alondra Totovía, Tarabilla común, Collalba Gris, Curruca Gavilana, Alcaudón Dorsirrojo and Alcaudón Norteño.

The Oranienbaumer Heide is located southeast of Dessau. Click on the P in the map to get directions to a parking place on the northern side. You can also start your walk in Jüdenberg, on the east side of the area.
