Moosschwaige has surprisingly varied habitats. There are reedbeds (Carricero Común, Carricero Tordal), ponds and streams (Rascón Europeo, Martín Pescador Común) with attached wetland being actively maintained by beavers. There are also woods and grassland.
Star species are Zarcero Icterino, Alcaudón Dorsirrojo and Cuco Común in the summer, Alcaudón Norteño in the winter, and woodpeckers all year round, including Pico Menor , Pito Cano and Picamaderos Negro.
