The ponds of Martinsweiher Niederwalgern are beautiful little refuges for birds and other wildlife surrounded by agricultural landscape. There are regular sightings of rare birds especially during the migration periods. Also it is a breeding habitat for native species. Among the birds you can see are Avión Zapador, Cigüeña Blanca, Escribano Cerillo, Cuco Común, Cerceta Común, Porrón Osculado, Chorlitejo Chico, Rascón Europeo, Zampullín Común and Martín Pescador Común.

The area is close to the train station of Niederwalgern and is easily accessible on foot or by bike. Also it is located next to a country-road and there is even a small space for car parking.
