Descripción
The Luneplate is characterized by marsh grasslands, mudflats and the tidal polder. The man-made flood areas are lower than the Weser high tide and is flooded twice daily. In addition the water buffaloes and the Galloway cows provide for an ideal habitat for various bird species. They keep the pasturelands trimmed. During the winter the shallow water areas serve as a resting and sleeping environment for more than 10.000 birds. Among the birds you can encounter are Pigargo Europeo, Aguilucho Lagunero Occidental, Zarapito Real, Ostrero Euroasiático, Avefría Europea, Escribano Palustre, Carricerín Común, Jilguero Lúgano, Tarabilla común, Alondra Común and different species of ducks, geese, herons and waders.

Accesso
The Luneplate is located south of the city of Bremerhaven. Click on the P in the map for directions to the parking lot from which you can explore the Luneplate. There is an observation tower and observation hide and platforms. It's sometimes worth stopping in front of the parking lot on the old river Weser. The entire area is rather big, so we usually take our bikes with us and always reach the 10 km.
