Descripción
The nature reserve Lange Dreisch und Osterberg, which is characterized by a diverse hilly landscape of limestone, marl, sandstone and loess, extends over a foothill of the Hildesheim highlands that extends far into the Börde landscape. It was used as a military exercise area until the end of 2007 and contains extensively used grassland, semi-arid limestone grassland, limestone spring areas, small bodies of water, heat-loving fringes and bushes as well as forest stands made up of oak, hornbeam, linden and ash trees on limestone and silicate rock.
The area is a good place to see migratory species like Mirlo Capiblanco and Collalba Gris and offers a variety of breeding species including Torcecuello Euroasiático and Alondra Común.
