Descripción
The Kochelsee is a picturesque lake that nestles against the northern edge of the Alps and is bordered by mountain forests, moors and green spaces. So many different habitats naturally also attract birds. The Loisach river flows into the Kochelsee, which also gives its name to the nearby Loisach-Kochelsee moors. Over 250 species of birds have already been identified in this area - 80 of them breed regularly. Since the lake is located directly on the Alps, numerous migratory birds gather here, especially when the flying weather is rather bad. The Kochelsee is 66 m deep and has a circumference of around 15 km. It is a great lake for wintering ducks and the surrounding wetland fields are great for herons & egrets.
