The Horbachpark was created as part of the state garden show of 1988. The little Horbach stream flows through the park and into a lake. There are many paths and benches throughout the park. The lake and the surrounding grass and reed fringes are home to Cisne Vulgar, Ánade azulón, Focha Común and Gallineta Común. Around the edges of the park and beyond, there is an attractive mix of gardens and allotments. These host a good variety of Tits, Finches and Woodpeckers, including Carbonero Palustre, Mito Común, Picogordo Común, Jilguero Lúgano and Pito Real.
In the woods adjacent to the park, it is possible to observe Carbonero Garrapinos, Herrerillo Capuchino and Reyezuelo Sencillo. Raptors like Busardo ratonero, Milano Real and Azor Común can often be seen soaring over the woods and slopes above the town. If you're in Ettlingen the park is well worth a visit. It's also a great place to combine family time at the playground with a bit of birding.
