Waders stop at the Holzendorfer See during the spring and autumn migration. Maybe not in huge numbers, but there is a large species diversity: Combatiente, Avefría Europea, Archibebe Claro, Archibebe Oscuro, Archibebe Común, Andarríos Bastardo, Andarríos Chico, Andarríos Grande, Correlimos Común, Correlimos Zarapitín, Correlimos Menudo, Correlimos de Temminck, Chorlitejo Grande and Agachadiza común. There is a chance for rarer species like Correlimos Falcinelo, Correlimos Gordo and Correlimos Tridáctilo. Also observed here are Correlimos Pectoral and Avefría Coliblanca. In the spring, all the "spring" ducks also stop here: Cuchara Común, Ánade rabudo norteño, Cerceta Carretona, Cerceta Común and Silbón Europeo. In late autumn you can meet here a large number of Grulla Común and Cisne Cantor. During the breeding season Avefría Europea, Charrán Común, Chorlitejo Chico and Ánsar común nest here.

Preferably by car. Holzendorfer See is about 15 minutes from Prenzlau. The village of Holzendorf can also be reached by bus. The route along the lake runs along an overgrown dirt road from the village on the southern bank of the water reservoir, from where there is the best access.
