Descripción
The Emscher Auen flood retention basin not only protects the cities on the river Emscher from flooding, but it is also a nice wetland. A special ecological design, which makes use of the synergies between flood protection and nature conservation, creates ideal conditions for migratory birds and breeding birds. Among the birds you can encounter are Escribano Palustre, Carricerín Común, Carricero Común, Carricero Políglota, Cerceta Carretona, Chorlitejo Chico, Agachadiza común, Andarríos Bastardo, Andarríos Grande, Rascón Europeo, Martín Pescador Común, Curruca Zarcera, Escribano Cerillo and Lavandera Cascadeña.
