Descripción

Stretching along the western slopes of the Odenwald mountain, the area between the villages of Dossenheim and Schriesheim not only offers great views over the Rhine valley, but is also a protected Natura 2000 site with a rich avivauna. On the lower reaches of the hills, a mosaic of vineyards, orchards, and meadows provides a habitat for many bird species, including Alcaudón Dorsirrojo, Pito Cano, Torcecuello Euroasiático, Escribano Soteño, and the rare Escribano Montesino. In the forested upper reaches, Pico Mediano, Picamaderos Negro, and Mosquitero Silbador can be found. Moreover, Búho Real breed in the abandoned quarries nearby.
