Bückeburger Niederung contains extensively used wet meadows and seasonal flooded grasslands along the near-natural river Bückeburger Aue. But the area also has tree rows, hedges, field shrubs and small groves as well as numerous, predominantly artificial ponds. In spring usually large areas are flooded. This attracts many birds. Among the birds you can encounter are Ánsar careto, Barnacla canadiense grande, Cisne Chico, Cerceta Carretona, Cuchara Común, Silbón Europeo, Ánade rabudo norteño Guión de Codornices, Grulla Común and Avefría Europea.
