Descripción
Bottsand nature reserve is a great spot to find a varying bird community throughout the year. Many migratory waders can be found here during fall and spring, at times several hundred Chorlito Dorado Europeo can be seen resting on the mudflats together with Correlimos Común and several other species. Charrán Común, Charrán ártico and Charrancito Común breed in the reserve or in the surrounding area and can be seen during the summer, while Charrán Patinegro and Pagaza Piquirroja are regularly seen resting on the sand banks during migration. The reedbeds hold a number of warblers and Ruiseñor Pechiazul. During winter large numbers of diving ducks can be found offshore.
Early morning visits are recommended as this is a popular recreational site and many people and watersport enthusiasts will flock there independent of season and weather. Checking the water level (water level in the Baltic and dictated by wind and not by the tides) can be useful as the mudflats are often deserted during high water levels.
