Descripción
The Borkener See with its nutrient-poor body of water forms the core of one of the largest and most important nature reserves in Germany, which primarily serves as a resting area for numerous rare bird species. Due to its large body of water and its mild climate, it remains ice-free for a long time. A total of 235 bird species have been observed here since 1990. Colimbo Chico and Colimbo Ártico are regularly seen. As are Grulla Común, Ánsar Campestre de la Tundra, Ánsar careto, Negrón especulado, Serreta Mediana and Serreta Chica. Also rare guests such as Ánsar chico, Cernícalo Patirrojo, Vuelvepiedras Común, Falaropo Picogrueso, Falaropo Picofino, Fumarel Cariblanco and Fumarel Aliblanco can be seen here. On good days, up to 2,000 ducks and just as many seagulls can be seen on the lake.
