Descripción

The Blankensee can be overlooked best from a boardwalk near the village of the same name. Close views of Bigotudo and Carricero Común, with luck also Pájaro-moscón Europeo, are possible from the boardwalk (no scope needed). Avetoro Común is often seen flying out of the reeds near the boardwalk, especially in winter. An occupied Águila Pescadora nest can be seen from the boardwalk in summer.

Thousands of ducks and geese are on the lake in winter. Serreta Chica, Serreta Grande and Porrón Osculado give good views. Others are Porrón Europeo, Porrón Moñudo, Silbón Europeo and Ánade friso. Pigargo Europeo is regularly seen. The most common large gull is Gaviota del Caspio.

May is the month for Fumarel Común. With luck you can get Fumarel Aliblanco and Fumarel Cariblanco, too. Other good birds in spring are Zampullín Cuellinegro, Ánade rabudo norteño and big flocks of swallows.

Walking through the village (Serín Verdecillo, Cigüeña Blanca), make sure to have a look for Martín Pescador Común along the river Nieplitz.

On the walk to the tower in the north you pass the small lake Seechen (diminutive of lake "See"). Chances are good for Porrón Osculado, Zampullín Común and Somormujo Cuellirrojo. From the tower you overlook the wetlands of the Ungeheuerwiesen. A breeding Águila Pescadora, Avefría Europea, Agachadiza común and with luck Abubilla común can be seen. In winter Grulla Común, Chorlito Dorado Europeo and northern geese are typical species. Alcaudón Norteño is regurlarly seen in the open winter landscape.
