Descripción
The Baggersee Grötzingen is a former gravel pit that is now part nature reserve, part recreational (fishing, bathing zone). In winter there are usually good numbers of Porrón Moñudo, Ánade friso, Cerceta Común, Somormujo Lavanco, Garza Real and Cormorán Grande. They are sometimes joined by smaller numbers or individual Porrón Europeo, Porrón Osculado, Cuchara Común or Pato Mandarín.
Most years, some more uncommon or rare species appear at some point during the winter. In recent years, Porrón Bastardo, Somormujo Cuellirrojo, Negrón común and Negrón especulado have all been seen here. The woods surrounding the lake are a good place to look out for less common woodland species, such as Pito Cano, Pico Menor and Picogordo Común.
