Descripción
This fielded area, sitting right next to the border of Berlin city, is composed of rectangular drainage ditches bordered by embankments. Due to their former use for sewage treatment, the soils here are very nutrient-rich and moist, allowing many insects and plants to colonize, providing plentiful food for birds.
Oropéndola Europea are common in the adjacent woodland, Alondra Totovía can be observed in the neighboring sandy habitat with old pines, and many Escribano Cerillo and Tarabilla Norteña can also be seen.

It is recommended to visit not only the Rieselfelder, but also the nearby forest and the sandy area directly southeast of the fields (these are marked 1 and 2 on the map).
The Erpetal (marked 3 on the map) is to the west of the Rieselfelder, this is a well-known birding area in Berlin, and it runs all the way down to the S3 train line. The Erpetal is also described on Birdingplaces.
