Pointe de Chassiron is located at the end of the island of Oléron, and probably the most interesting place for the observation of pelagic birds (= seawatch), like Alcatraz Atlántico, Arao Común or even Pardela Balear.
The best time to observe seabirds, like any bird for that matter, is from dawn until noon. The only really interesting period for the seawatch is fall. You will then be able to observe a very large diversity of open sea birds, such as: Ánsar común, Barnacla Carinegra, Éider común, Negrón común, Serreta Mediana, Zampullín Cuellirrojo, Somormujo Lavanco, Págalo Grande, Arao Común, Alca Común, Gaviota de Sabine, Gaviota Reidora, Gaviota Enana, Gaviota Cabecinegra, Gaviota Cana, Gaviota argéntea europea, Gaviota Patiamarilla, Gaviota sombría, Gavión Atlántico, Charrancito Común, Charrán Patinegro, Charrán Común, Colimbo Chico, Colimbo Grande, Paíño Europeo, Pardela Balear, Alcatraz Atlántico and finally Cormorán Moñudo.
During migration, it is also possible to observe a large number of passerines and Anatidae.
NB: a Estornino Negro has been nesting for several years under the tiles of the most advanced house with Estornino Pinto.
