Mont Caroux represents the eastern limit of the Espinouse mountains. There is a rich forestry area where you can have a chance to see Torcecuello Euroasiático, Zarcero Políglota, Mosquitero Papialbo and Trepador Azul. There are also areas of heath which are home to Alcaudón Dorsirrojo, Milano Negro and Buitre Leonado. And look out for Águila Real. More than 10 pairs breed in the area. Although visible all year round, this large raptor preferably performs acrobatic courtship displays in January and February. Other interesting birds you can see in the area are Culebrera Europea, Roquero Rojo, Roquero Solitario, Autillo Europeo, Curruca Cabecinegra Reyezuelo Sencillo and Escribano Montesino. In winter you have a chance to see Treparriscos, Acentor Alpino and Gorrión Alpino in the area.
