Marais de Kersahu is an unmissable place for the migration of birds. Many birds also breed in the area. Located between the ocean and the Petite mer de Gâvres, this 60-hectare area has been preserved from human activity thanks to the presence of the military for two centuries. After having been converted into salt marshes ages ago, the fate of the Kersahu marshes changed in 1829, with the arrival of the military. All French naval artillery was tested in the marshes. But due to the presence of the military, this area was preserved and it played a major part in maintaining this remarkable natural area. A setting that today offers thousands of birds a breeding area of a feeding stop during migration. Many nice birds can be seen here, see the birdlist below.

Take the direction of Gâvres and park in the beach car park at the entrance to the city. The suggested route on the Birdinplaces-map below is about 7 km.
