Lac du Pêcher is a lake with a surrounding nature reserve that is part of the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Natural Park. Its area is 20.22 hectares and its altitude is 1,142 meters. The valley of Lac du Pêcher is protected because of the special flora and fauna. Birds that breed in the area are Alondra Totovía, Agachadiza común, Porrón Europeo, Cistícola Buitrón, Escribano Palustre, Rascón Europeo, Avefría Europea and Zampullín Común. Other birds you can encounter are Andarríos Chico, Águila Pescadora, Milano Real, Milano Negro, Aguilucho Lagunero Occidental, Alcaudón Dorsirrojo, Cuervo Grande, Tarabilla Norteña, Curruca Capirotada, Curruca Mosquitera and Tarabilla común.

You can also explore the surroundings on foot. On the map you see a 3 km circular educational trail. This trail also passes the observatory.
