Descripción
The beautiful Loire is the longest wild river in France. With beautiful scenic views, it is easy to bike alongside the river or enjoy beautiful walks. In the department of Loir-et-Cher, between visits of the world famous castle of Chambord, or Blois, you can observe breeding sea birds.
The "island" of la Saulas is found just after the third bridge (Bridge François Mitterand). It is a wide sand bank known to be the breeding spots of many pairs of Charrancito Común, Charrán Común and Gaviota Cabecinegra every year.
The bank is only 10 m away from the shore, making the observation really easy. Birds will proceed to their normal activities as long as you don't try to cross the water to reach the island (which is forbidden). So please keep your distance.
Another island can be found just before the first bridge (ile des tuileries) with the same species and also Chorlitejo Chico, Gaviota Reidora and Gaviota Patiamarilla.
