The Etangs de Tonnoy border the Moselle River. About a dozen former gravel pits with quite a few trees around them. The ponds are of varying sizes and require varying levels of maintenance. A small wood borders the site on one side, which adds another distinct biotope to the area. This small wood is home to a large number of standing dead trees. Birds that have been observed in the areas include Pico Menor, Torcecuello Euroasiático, Picamaderos Negro, Martín Pescador Común, Abubilla común, Milano Negro, Milano Real, Cigüeña Blanca, Charrán Común, Andarríos Grande, Agachadiza común, Zarapito Trinador, Zarapito Real, Chorlitejo Chico, Avefría Europea, Cuco Común, Tórtola Europea, Serreta Grande, Ánade rabudo norteño, Cuchara Común, Alcaudón Dorsirrojo, Alondra Común, Zarcero Icterino, Buscarla Unicolor, Papamoscas Gris, Ruiseñor Común, Colirrojo Tizón, Colirrojo Real, Tarabilla Norteña, Tarabilla común, Lavandera Cascadeña, Lavandera Boyera, Camachuelo Común, Escribano Triguero and Escribano Cerillo.

Français: Les étangs de Tonnoy sont un ensemble d'une dizaine d'étangs qui longent la rivière Moselle. Les étangs de Tonnoy bordent la rivière Moselle, c'est un ensemble d'une dizaines d'anciennes gravières avec pas mal d'arbres tout autour. Les étangs sont de différentes tailles avec plus ou moins d'entretien. Un petit bois touche le site sur un coté, ce qui amène encore un biotope différent au lieu. Ce petit bois, abrite un grand nombre d'arbres morts sur pieds.

Accesso
The ponds are situated directly south of the town of Tonnoy. Exit Tonnoy towards Velle-sur-Moselle. Take the last road on the right and follow the signs for "Etangs." The visit can be done on foot, by bike, or by car. All roads are passable, but drive slowly. Press P on the map for directions.
