Etang Prêle is a pond that is regularly drained. The pond has an interpretive trail which allows you to walk around it in summer. The trail can be flooded in winter. Like all the ponds of Dombes, it is suitable for migratory stopovers of birds. Among the birds you can observe are Alcaudón Dorsirrojo, Garza Imperial, Garceta Común, Cigüeña Blanca, Curruca Zarcera, Cistícola Buitrón, Carricero Común, Somormujo Lavanco and Focha Común.

Etang Prêle is located between the villages of Chaneins and Valeins in the Dombes region. Access via the D17 from Belleville sur Saône or Châtillon sur Chalaronne. Press P on the map for directions. The circular route around the lake is about 1,7 km.
