Descripción
Portimojärvi is one of the best bird lakes and one of the most valuable wetlands in the area. The lake is actually a regulated extension of the Tengeliöjoki River. Many birds breed in the area and Portimojärvi is also a valuable as a gathering area for waterfowl during migration as in the summer closing season. Among the breeding birds are Silbón Europeo, Somormujo Cuellirrojo, Serreta Grande, Ánade rabudo norteño, Cuchara Común, Charrán ártico, Gaviota Reidora, Gaviota Enana, Porrón Moñudo and Serreta Chica. Other birds you can encounter are Cisne Cantor, Zampullín Cuellirrojo, Porrón Osculado, Grulla Común, Andarríos Chico and Andarríos Bastardo. But many more, see the birdlist below. Best time for a visit is from half May until the start of autumn migration.
