Descripción

The village of Palupõhja is surrounded by wetlands and forests. A great view opens from the riverbank over the meadows of Emajõgi, which are nicely flooded in the early spring, attracting numerous waterbirds. For instance, during the flood over 15 species of ducks and geese are gathering in the area and it is likely to observe an Águila Pescadora catching fish in a close distance. At this time the soundscape is also very rich in birds. You can see several raptor and woodpecker species here. The last ones are especially active in the village and in the near surroundings. Some interesting birds you can hear or see in here are Agachadiza Chica, Agachadiza Real, Polluela Pintoja, Ánade rabudo norteño, Cerceta Carretona, Cisne Chico, Mochuelo Alpino, Cárabo Uralense, Pico Dorsiblanco and Picamaderos Negro.
