Crocodile Island is located in the river Nile. The reedbeds and wetlands line the shore on both sides of the bridge to the mainland. Look for Garceta Común, Garcilla Bueyera, Garza Imperial, Calamón Común, Alcotán Europeo, Cernícalo Primilla, Aguilucho Lagunero Occidental, Martín Pescador Pío, Águila Pescadora, Elanio Común, wintering dabbling ducks and waders.
The hotel gardens are a refuge for smaller birds and migrants such as Abejaruco Europeo, Abejaruco esmeralda oriental, Oropéndola Europea, Autillo Europeo, Abubilla común, Tórtola Europea, Chotacabras Europeo, Torcecuello Euroasiático, Alcaudón Dorsirrojo and various warblers.

Luxor is a popular tourist destination with its own airport. Trains from Cairo take about 10 hours. Crocodile Island is located in the river Nile just south of Luxor. From the city centre there are plentiful buses and taxis.
