Descripción
Margrethe Kog is a very flat area and mostly very windy as well. But there are thousands of birds, particularly Barnacla Cariblanca are usually there in large numbers. Margrethe Kog was made in 1982 when a higher dike was needed further out in the marsh. One third of the kog consists of Saltvandssøen, a saltwater lake, that gets fresh saltwater pumped in to maintain salinity. There is a project underway on the eastern side of the kog to improve breeding sites for meadow birds. Among the birds you can encounter here are Ánade rabudo norteño, Zarapito Real, Avoceta Común, Archibebe Común, Correlimos Común, Combatiente, Avefría Europea, Ostrero Euroasiático and Espátula Común. Best month to see the most species of waders is July.
