Descripción

At Headwaters Community Park, you can see most of the common songbird migrants like warblers, vireos, flycatchers and sparrows during migration. Some of the less common birds that can be somewhat reliable spotted at the park during migration include: Solitary Sandpiper at the shores of Redstone pond, Canada Warbler in the trails towards Eyer Homestead Park, and migrating waterfowl like American Wigeon or Wood Duck at the stormwater ponds if you get lucky.

Accesso

Headwaters Community Park is located in Richmond Hill. To access the park, you can walk to the trail entrances on foot if you're in the area, or you can park at the parking lot at eyer homestead park or at the main parking lot at Redstone road with Toporowski avenue. Press P on the map for directions to a parking.

If you're starting at the parking lot in Redstone road, it is best to proceed to the trail to the left, and then you can choose whether you want to check Redstone and Coco Av ponds first, or whether you want to take a more treed route. If you're starting at Eyer homestead park, you can go down the trail looking for migrants, and check the stormwater ponds if you want to. The more urban section of the park with sports field and a playground usually doesn't yield much, but if you have time you could decide to check it.
