The Koppenbergbos is a deciduous forest where you can enjoy woodpeckers such as Pico Picapinos as a common species and the Pico Mediano as the rarest. The large trees and the low-lying wood are good for Trepador Azul, Agateador Europeo and Carbonero Palustre. The bushes are home to smaller songbirds such as Reyezuelo Listado, Reyezuelo Sencillo and classics such as Pinzón Vulgar, Curruca Capirotada supplemented with Pinzón Real in winter. For several years now, as in many forests in the Flemish Ardennes, there has been the presence of Búho Real.

Nederlands: Het Koppenbergbos is een hellingbos met als primaire soorten beuken als boomsoort waar je kan genieten van Trepador Azul, Carbonero Palustre en andere soorten. In dit loofhoutbos kun je spechten als Pico Picapinos zien als algemene soort en ook de Pico Mediano als de meeste zeldzame. De grote bomen en het middelhout is dan weer goed voor Trepador Azul, Agateador Europeo en Carbonero Palustre. In de struiken zitten de kleinere zangers zoals Reyezuelo Listado, Reyezuelo Sencillo en de klassiekers zoals Pinzón Vulgar, Curruca Capirotada aangevuld met Pinzón Real in de winter. Sinds enkele jaren is er de aanwezigheid zoals in vele bossen in de Vlaamse Ardennen van Búho Real.

The Koppenbergbos is located just south of Oudenaarde. There is a parking lot at the end of the Maria van der Gheynststraat. Press P on the map for directions to the parking lot. The circular walk indicated on the map is approximately 4 km.
