Descripción
Traditional draw-wells and reed huts, cattle herds, families of geese, blossoming orchids in spring, and extensive salt efflorescences in summer are popular photo motifs.
From an ornithological point of view, the Illmitzer Zicksee (also known as the "Zicklacke") is certainly a “must-see”. At high water levels, a number of places offer good opportunities to observe birds at very close range. During the course of the year, about 15 duck species and 30 wader species use the lake or its shore zone as a resting area, and Ánade friso, Cuchara Común, and Ánade azulón breed here. In May and July/ August, this saline lake is the most reliable spot in the area to see Correlimos Falcinelo , Correlimos de Temminck , and Correlimos Menudo. It is also a good place to see: Lavandera Boyera , Carricerín Común , Buscarla Unicolor , Alcaudón Dorsirrojo , and Escribano Palustre. Singing pearches for Cogujada Común and Curruca Gavilana are almost “common knowledge”.
