The park in which Lillydale Lake is situated covers over 100 hectares and includes extensive recreational facilities. The lake covers 28 hectares with a 440 metre long dam wall. Note the lake has two 'l's in the name, not one as per the town. Birds you can observe in the area include Welcome Swallow, Australasian Darter, Purple Swamphen, Pacific Black Duck, Australian Wood Duck, Australian White Ibis, Great Egret, Masked Lapwing, Little Raven and Australian Magpie.

Lillydale Lake is located in Lilydale, an outer eastern suburb of Melbourne. Access to Lillydale Lake is via Swansea Road, Lilydale, and has extensive parking. Press P on the map for directions to the parking. The area also has picnic grounds, public toilets, often a coffee cart, playground and water playing area, and canoeing. There is an island in the lake. Walking or riding, there is an off leash dog area but dogs must be on leash on the track around the lake. Allow at least an hour for a visit. The circular walking route around the lake is about 3 km.
