An easily accessible paved walkway along the foreshore of Lake Tuggerah that provides close proximity viewing of large numbers of waders.
Lake Tuggerah Foreshore Walk is an easily accessible, flat walkway that is wheelchair friendly. Although the full walkway is 10 km return, there are numerous access points, seating, picnic areas and toilet facilities. Waterbirds are prolific, but also open forest birds can be observed.
Birds that can be seen include: Australian Pelican, Little Egret, Plumed Egret, Great Egret, Black Swan, Little Pied Cormorant, Buff-banded Rail, Striated Heron, Bar-tailed Godwit, Dollarbird, Masked Lapwing, Pied Butcherbird, Grey Butcherbird, Tawny Frogmouth, Eastern Rosella, Royal Spoonbill, Long-billed Corella, Little Corella and Australasian Darter.
Parking is available at the carparks in The Entrance, or along Tuggerah Parade. At the other end, the Rotary Carpark at Shelly Beach. Click on a P in the map for directions or coordinates. The pathway itself is dual pedestrian and bicycle access.
