Descripción
The name of Gouraya National Park is derived from the 660 metres high Gouraya Mountain. The mountain, cliffs, forest and beaches give the park a rich biodiversity. Gouraya National Park is a good area for conservation with barbary macaques, jackals and wildcats on land, sperm whale, dolphins and porpoise, Alcatraz Atlántico, Pardela Pichoneta, Paíño Europeo and Gaviota de Audouin offshore. Birds may also include Autillo Europeo, Búho Real, Alimoche Común, Culebrera Europea, Ganga Ibérica, Tórtola Europea, Chorlito Carambolo, Sisón Común, Alcotán Europeo, Codorniz Común, Abejero Europeo, Chotacabras Europeo, Chotacabras Cuellirrojo, Curruca Cabecinegra, Curruca Mirlona, Zarcero Políglota, Calandria Común, Terrera Común, Cogujada Común, Gorrión Moruno, Gorrión Chillón, Roquero Solitario, Escribano Triguero, Escribano Soteño and Escribano Montesino.

City of Bejaia has an airport and train station and is 2 and a 1/2 hours east of Algiers. The N24 coast road passes through the park. Most other roads are narrow, steep and winding. Summer temperatures can reach 47° and are best avoided. Travel here in early spring or late autumn for best results.
