Saltmarsh on north side of Humber where thousands of birds can be seen that use the Humber estuary.
Welwick Saltmarsh is the most extensive area of saltmarsh on the north bank of the River Humber. The area is managed by Yorkshire Wildlife Trust. Thousands of birds use the Humber estuary, including (Ευρασιατική) Τουρλίδα, Αργυροπούλι, Κοκκινοσκαλίδρα, Λασποσκαλίδρα and large flocks of (Ευρωπαϊκό) Βροχοπούλι. Good at most times of year. Wintering Καλαμόκιρκος, Χειμωνόκιρκος, Βαλτόμπουφος, Αγριόκυκνος, Twite and larks. Possibility of rarities, such as Στεπόκιρκος.
Public transport: Nearest bus stop in Welwick village around 2 miles away. By car: From Welwick village head south down Humber Lane which becomes Row Lane. At the end of the lane take a sharp right and park along Sheep Trod Lane. Walk south down a dust track to the site. Access along flood banks.
