Long established Πετρίτης nest site viewing point, manned by RSPB. Panoramic view of river Wye, Coppet Hill and adjacent woods.
Πετρίτης nest site from February/March with chicks fledging June/July. Telescope and information board on site in spring/summer. Also (Κοινός) Κόρακας, (Ευρωπαϊκός) Κορμοράνος, Mandarin Duck, (Κοινός) Φοινίκουρος, Δεντροτσοπανάκος, Καστανοπαπαδίτσα, (Κοινή) Γερακίνα and (Κοινό) Ξεφτέρι. Evening views of grazing fallow deer. Μαυρολαίμης, (Κοινή) Σιταρήθρα and Δεντρογέρακο on Coppet Hill to the north.
Symonds Yat East is accessed from A40 interchange just north of Whitchurch. Follow B4229 then right over Huntsham bridge. Go left as soon as reach Huntsham Hill. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ASCEND HUNTSHAM HILL WITH ANY LARGE VEHICLE OR CARAVAN. Several pay car parks in Symonds Yat East village, from there a steep footpath ascends from Royal lodge Hotel to the Peregrine viewing site.
At top of Huntsham Hill go right to woodland car park, from there a short walk/wheelchair access northward to the Yat Rock. En route, mating frogs can be seen in February/March.
For Coppet Hill continue on B4229, forking left by Goodrich Primary School and immediately sharp right. use new layby on Goodrich to Welsh Bicknor minor road. 6 mile circular walk from there to Youth Hostel, then west along river and ascend to Coppet Hill through woods opposite the Πετρίτης rock.
