An easily accessible urban fringe site with a good variety of mainly commoner species.
An area of mainly reclaimed mining land with fields, landscaped pit heap, young mixed woodland, and several pools, both naturally formed after mining subsidence and artificially constructed. Excessive disturbance by dogs is a problem unfortunately.
Bus 1, 42, 42A, 51, 51A and 335 to Whitley Road ASDA supermarket, and walk from there; alternatively cycle, or a slightly longer walk from busses on the A1058 Coast Road.
