Description

Priory Water nature reserve is managed by Leicestershire Wildfowlers Association but a right-of-way path runs through it. There are two main lakes and a selection of pools and scrapes all surrounded by grassland and scrub. Horses and cows pasture here. Priory water is one of the best sites in the Leicestershire county for dragonflies and damselflies which attracts Δεντρογέρακο in spring and summer.

Priory Water is an important site for wintering waterfowl, such as Ασπρομέτωπη Χήνα, Χηνοπρίστης, Καπακλής, (Ευρωπαϊκό) Σφυριχτάρι, Μαυροκέφαλη Πάπια, (Βουβός) Κύκνος, (Κοινή) Φαλαρίδα, (Ευρασιατική) Χουλιαρόπαπια and others found here. The surrounding reeds host (Ευρωπαϊκό) Ψευταηδόνι.
