Abandoned watercress beds, now managed as a local nature reserve. Also the King's Pool, a lake and small reedbed in the village centre.
At Ewelme the overgrown watercress beds provide shelter for rodents, which in turn attracts bird predators such as Ανθρωποπούλλι, Ψαλιδιάρης, 3 egret species and Σταχτοτσικνιάς. Smaller birds include (Ευρωπαϊκός) Φλώρος, (Κοινή) Καρδερίνα, Μαυροσκούφης and (Μεγάλο) Καλαμοτσίχλονο, pursued by (Κοινό) Ξεφτέρι. King's Pool may have (Ευρωπαϊκή) Αλκυόνη, (Κοκκινόλαιμο) Νανοβουτηχτάρι, Αρκοπετείναρο, Μαυροκέφαλη Πάπια and (Κοινή) Φαλαρίδα.
From Oxford take A423 south for 12 miles then minor road left through Benson. There is no car park at the Watercress beds but onstreet parking in the village centre, plus car park near playground. Reserve access is free and unrestricted. Visitor centre admission £3, restricted hours.
