Scenic 3 mile walk along the Crumlin arm of the disused Monmouthshire Canal. Varied habitats. Beware of cyclists.
The Crumlin arm canal has varied habitat, mixed forest, pastures and scrubland on side of the valley. Houses alongside the canal often have bird feeders. Farmland encourages a diverse range of wildlife. Plenty to see at all times of the year. This flat walk along the disused Crumlin arm of the Monmouthsire canal is popular for cyclists and walkers. The area attracts a wide range of birds at anytime of the year. The canal recently has been relined due to leakage, this has benefited all forms of wildlife increasing the diversity.
Turn off B4591 ( St Mary's Street) before Texico garage onto Darren road, cross railway line and after the right hand bend turn left to park car at the road side. Make sure not to park in front of the houses. Alternative car park at the other end of the walk is turn off the A467 onto the B4591 and park alongside the canal on the road. Can be explored on foot or cycle. If you walk, beware of cyclists.
