Description

Cardiff Bay is good for birds all year round. Residents include Χαλικοκυλιστής, Καρβουνιάρης, Θαλασσοκελάδα and Χηνοπρίστης. The first can be seen on the green walkways in groups, whilst the rest can be seen basking on the rocky edges.

Οχθοχελίδονο, Λευκοχελίδονο and (Κοινή) Σταχτάρα can all be seen in summer. Λευκοχελίδονο nest in ready-made boxes under the eaves of houses by the roundabout barrage entrance. Οχθοχελίδονο nest in the walls of the bay.

(Ευρωπαϊκός) Στρειδοφάγος can be seen on the barrage all year round, as well as Κοκκινοσκέλης. (Ευρωπαϊκός) Φλώρος is another resident around the bay. When the tide goes out, many species, such as Βαρβάρα can be seen feeding.

Winter visitors include Νανόγλαρος. However, check sightings before going as they tend to move around a lot. Finally, rarities include Μαυροβουτηχτάρι, Χιονόπαπια and Ring-necked Duck.
