Description
The nature reserve consists of a flood storage lagoon owned and operated by Derbyshire Wildlife Trust and the Environment Agency. The lagoon is good in winter for common wildfowl, has a small breeding colony of (Ευρωπαϊκό) Ψευταηδόνι, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Αλκυόνη and (Ευρωπαϊκή) Νεροκοτσέλα, and in summer holds most common visitors like Καλαμοποταμίδα and Σχοινοποταμίδα. Rarities have included (Ευρωπαϊκή) Σαρσέλα, Καλαμόκιρκος and (Ευρασιατικός) Ήταυρος.

Access
Parking is on roads in local village. Public footpath takes you alongside the nature reserve (although access is by arrangement with Derbyshire Wildlife Trust beforehand). The footpath and surrounding farmland provides a pleasant setting.
