Description
Stockviken is one of the best birding areas on Gotland. It has two different areas: an inland lake ("inre") with a watchtower and a bay ("ytre"). You can see ducks, geese, (Ευρωπαϊκός) Θαλασσαετός, Σταχτοπετρόκλης, terns, reedbirds and waders. Many rare species have been seen here over the years. The area's nesting birds include waders such as Κοκκινοσκέλης, (Ευρωπαϊκός) Στρειδοφάγος, Μαχητής, (Ευρασιατική) Τουρλίδα, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Λιμόζα, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Αβοκέτα and Λασποσκαλίδρα, but also other species such as (Ευρωπαϊκό) Νανογλάρονο, Καρατζάς and Χιονογλάρονο. Especially in spring – from early April to mid-May – but also during autumn – mainly in October – thousands of Barnacle Goose can be seen in the area.
