Skillingaryds Dämme was built as a water treatment plant. Measures taken in recent years have resulted in a new wetland and wet meadows. The new environment with shallow ponds and bushes attracts birds like (Ευρωπαϊκή) Νεροκοτσέλα, Αρκοπετείναρο, Λευκοσουσουράδα, Ποταμοσφυριχτής, Οχθοχελίδονο, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Αλκυόνη, Ακτίτης and (Ευρωπαϊκή) Βουκεφάλα.
