Description
Sjötorpasjön is a good place to see wetland birds during much of the year. The surroundings (deciduous forests and farmland) are also interesting. Among the breeders are Σκουφοβουτηχτάρι, (Βουβός) Κύκνος, Καλαμόκιρκος and in some years (Ευρασιατικός) Ήταυρος,Κοκκινοβουτηχτάρι and Μουστακαλής. Other breeders in the neighbourhood are Ψαλιδιάρης , Νανοδρυοκολάπτης, Αιγίθαλος and Κιτρινοστριτσίδα. During migration periods large flocks of Σταχτόχηνα , Canada Goose , Πρασινοκέφαλη Πάπια and (Ευρωπαϊκό) Κιρκίρι stay at the lake, often including the odd duck or goose species.
From the birding tower you may see several raptors, especially (Κοινή) Γερακίνα, Χιονογερακίνα, Ψαλιδιάρης, Τσίφτης, Ψαραετός and (Ευρωπαϊκός) Θαλασσαετός.
