The river Nyköpingsån flows through the central parts of the city of Nyköping with some rapids and some calmer parts.
The final part of Nyköpingsån river flows through the city of Nyköping. Along the river there is a very good walking path on both sides. Mostly functionally adapted. The best time to visit is during autumn, winter and spring. In the part from the harbor basin and upstream to Korsbron, there is no ice for the most part in winter and can Χηνοπρίστης, Μαυροκέφαλη Πάπια and (Ευρωπαϊκή) Βουκεφάλα be observed. On the river's edge Σταχτοτσικνιάς are often standing. At the rapids you can find (Ευρωπαϊκός) Νεροκότσυφας and (Ευρωπαϊκή) Αλκυόνη. On the stretch from Folkunga Bridge to Storhusfallet, there is also a point for (Ευρωπαϊκός) Νεροκότσυφας, (Ευρωπαϊκή) Αλκυόνη and Σταχτοσουσουράδα. From Storhusfallet to Stadsbron are mostly Πρασινοκέφαλη Πάπια, Μαυροκέφαλη Πάπια and (Ευρωπαϊκή) Βουκεφάλα. In the spring, the harbor basin is one of the places where the first Καστανοκέφαλος Γλάρος, Ποταμογλάρονο and other gulls and terns appear.
The paths along the river can only be accessed on foot. Not all sections are functionally adapted, but short, alternative routes are available. Click on a P in the map for directions to a parking.
